2018 Volvo V90 Release Date, Specs and Price – Welcome to the latestcarsuv.com, we will provide the latest information about the Volvo V90. The car that is environmentally friendly and comfortable to drive, this may be a suitable nickname for the 2018 Volvo V90. This car is one of the brand new cars from Volvo, which was released in 2017. We will also review about the price, interior, exterior and engine of the latest 2018 Volvo V90.

2018 Volvo V90 Price

In order to restart their company, Volvo decided first to release the XC90 crossover. This was a good move because it allowed them to refine the S90 sedan and V90 wagon further. The latter was showcased last year, and it has been available for sale for a couple of months as the 2018 Volvo V90. The car is mostly identical to its sedan counterpart the exception being the body style.

The 2018 Volvo V90 is shaping up to be the longest and largest wagon for sale in the U.S. market, as well as the most flamboyantly styled. As a derivative of the S90 sedan, the V90 wagon is a model that simultaneously builds on the brand’s heritage while striking out in an entirely new direction. It earns a very high 7.8 out of 10 on our overall scale. Those numbers reflect our high opinion of its style, copious space, and generous features.

First came the 2016 XC90 crossover, then the 2017 S90 sedan, and now the 2018 V90 wagon Volvo’s top shelf is officially full. Perhaps the best looking of the 90-series lot, all of which are built on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), the V90 could be considered the world’s most elegant station wagon and one that continues Volvo’s 60-year legacy in the wagon segment. And best of all, it’s coming here.

It has the same wheelbase, the same engines, and trim levels. The car has not only been released for the European market but also for the US market. Unfortunately for those in the US Volvo decided to offer the regular V90 only as a custom order model. This won’t allow dealers to stock the car so it might be hard to get one.

The 2018 Volvo V90 is a direct replacement for the older V70. However, it is more expensive, slightly larger, more powerful and considerably more luxurious. This has been possible mostly thanks to Volvo’s modular platform which allowed them to offer a really long wheelbase. This means that they managed to offer quite a bit more room inside the cabin than before. On top of that, the modular platform is both lighter and stiffer than the one before it, so the V90 is also considerably better to drive.

2018 Volvo V90 Review

2018 Volvo V90 Specs

Everyone very much hope at the 2018 Volvo V90 release is better than the previous version. So we’ll review the interior, exterior and some other features of the new car in 2018 Volvo V90. Hopefully review the specifications of this car, can help you in choosing your dream car.

The V90 features roughly the same interior layout as the sedan or the crossover. There is plenty of room, the materials are great, and the design is as minimalist as it gets. While this may be a problem for some, the design is actually quite refreshing and especially so when we compare it to its German rivals. The customer can choose from a number of inserts such as wood, piano-black trim, aluminum and likely carbon fiber in the near future. The seats are very supportive in the base trim level, and Volvo is offering multiple layers of electric adjustment. The seats can be heated, ventilated and the two front seats can be equipped with a massaging function. There is also a lot of space available for the rear seats. Unfortunately, the car is not perfect for carrying five people. The reason is that a large center armrest divides the rear bench seat and the middle seat is raised back so that it might get uncomfortable in the long run. Luckily, though, the trunk space increased over the sedan so the V90 might be the perfect family hauler.

Based on exterior dimensions, the new V90 is very similar to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagon. But the V90’s exterior styling makes it look decidedly longer and sleeker than the E-Class. Inside, the V90 shares the same design and materials philosophy as the S90, with a large, centrally located touchscreen display, attractive wood and leather materials for the Inscription models, and carbon fiber and aluminum for the R-Design. Ergonomics are great for long-distance driving, and Volvo offers fold-down booster seats for the outer two rear-seat positions to help your young ones transition from child safety seats to regular seats.

On the other hand, the 2018 Volvo V90 needs to measure up in terms of utility and flexibility, in all the ways that buyers will expect of a Volvo wagon, and for the most part it does. The tapering sides and angled cut of the hatch limit the height of the cargo area at the rear, and amount to a narrower load opening than SUVs (or some other wagons); yet an underfloor compartment (to be taken up, in part, by electrics in the T8 models) supplements with enough stow space for smaller items. Split rear seat backs flip forward neatly for a flat cargo floor. Our only complaint regarding the V90’s accommodations is one shared with the S90 sedan: its rear door cuts feel small for a full-size car, leaving the big and/or tall to cage their entrance and exit.

The 2018 Volvo V90 is a definite step-up over its predecessor. While it still uses the same design scheme as the S90 or the XC90, the V90 does bring a set of unique features to the mix. The rear of the car is quite sporty with a roof-mounted spoiler, a dual exhaust system, vertical L-shaped tail lights and a rather large rake for the rear window. The front features the same “Thor’s Hammer” LED daytime running lights inside the headlights as the S90. The Cross Country features extra black plastic inserts on the exterior and a slightly higher ground clearance, but the rest of the car is identical to the regular V90.

2018 Volvo V90 Engine

Few specifics were released about the features and powertrain combinations that will make it into U.S.-bound V90s, but we expect the car to follow the S90’s general program. The likely base engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter T5 four-cylinder that we expect to make something close to the 240 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque the same engine puts out in the current S60/V60. The next rung up would be the turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter T6 engine cranking out some 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft. And since Volvo is all-in with its Twin Engine electrification program, you can bet your bottom krona that at some point, the T8 Twin Engine plug-in-hybrid powertrain eventually will appear, making somewhere around 410 horsepower while giving the car an all-electric range of 30 miles or so. All-wheel drive may be standard throughout the range, although the T5 may also be available with front-drive in base form. A high-performance Polestar model remains a titillating possibility.

Volvo is making the V90 an order-only process few wagons will ever make it to the States. The powertrains for V90 are shared with the S90 and XC90 and include a 250-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder (T5), or a 302-hp, supercharged-and-turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder (T6). That model should be able to accelerate to 60 mph in around 5.5 seconds or less, while even the T5 wagon will click off 60 in well under seven seconds.

All models in the lineup come with a very smooth-shifting Aisin 8-speed automatic one that has the potential to shift. The V90 is by no means scorching in T6 guise the only way we’ve driven it, briefly but it’s plenty quick to satisfy most expectations.

The base US model of the 2018 Volvo V90 is the T5 which uses a 2-liter turbo four with 250 horsepower. Further up the range, there is the T6 with a turbocharged and supercharged 2-liter inline-four with 316 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. In Europe, there is also the T8 hybrid with 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque and all wheel drive. A set of diesel ranging from 148 up to 232 horsepower is also available. All models get an eight-speed automatic except the European base diesel and gas engines. These are also available with a six-speed manual. All-wheel drive is available on the T6, T8 and most diesel offerings.

We recommend the 2018 Volvo V90 Inscription T6. Its all-wheel-drive system can provide sure-footed capability in all seasons and, with the right tires, make the V90 an excellent ski-mobile. The T6’s four-cylinder engine is turbocharged and supercharged for a boost in power that matches nicely with the already refined V90’s ride and handling. Combined, these features make a practical daily driver into an engaging vacation machine.
