Offered with four different engines and two drive systems (RWD and AWD) the 5 Series Touring can either be had with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine developing 252 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, a 3.0-liter six-cylinder gas engine with 340 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, and both a 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter diesel engines developing 190 horsepower/295 lb-ft and 265 horsepower/457 lb-ft of torque respectively.

Naturally, the Touring model will get the same drivetrain as the sedan. This means that the U.S.-spec wagon, given that BMW will bring it Stateside, will debut with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a 3.0-liter six-cylinder, both turbocharged. Horsepower and fuel economy figures for the new 5 Series aren’t yet available, but BMW did release performance figures. The base 530i model with the four-cylinder engine will hit 60 mph in six seconds, while the same car with xDrive will do it two tenths quicker. The 540i variant with the larger six-cylinder unit will need 4.9 seconds to hit 60 mph in RWD configuration and 4.7 ticks with xDrive. Top speed is rated at 130 mph standard and 155 mph optional for all four configurations.

The base diesel mill is a 2.0 L,4-cylinder engine that produces 190 hp. The more powerful diesel mill is a turbocharged 3.0 L, 6-cylinder engine rated at 261 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. It takes 6.1 seconds to accelerate from 0-60 mph. The model will also feature a plug-in hybrid with an electric range of 27 miles.
