2017 Peugeot 5008 Specs

Everyone very much hope at the 2017 Peugeot 5008 release is better than the previous version. So we’ll review the interior, exterior and some other features of the new car in 2017 Peugeot 5008. Hopefully review the specifications of this car, can help you in choosing your dream car.

These values mirror the Peugeot brand image and the move up-market strategy, leading Peugeot engineers in 2012 to set themselves the ambitious task of releasing five new SUVs in under a year. This brand offensive got under way in March 2016 with the unveiling of the new Peugeot 2008 SUV and continued in May when the company revealed its spectacular new Peugeot 3008 SUV. In China, the latest version of the existing 3008 continues to be sold, its design has recently been refreshed, while an extended version of the new Peugeot 3008 SUV for the Chinese market – will be identified as the Peugeot 4008 SUV has just made its first appearance at the Chengdu Motor Show. The new Peugeot 5008 SUV is thus the fifth SUV to be unveiled by the Peugeot brand within the year.

The good news doesn’t end there, however, because all cars come with an infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touchscreen and Bluetooth connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Having this functionality means that, even if you don’t pick sat-nav from the car’s options list, you can still use your phone’s built-in guidance apps on the move.

The interior has been upgraded to offer the convenience and practicability synonymous with SUVs. It is offered in four trim levels which are the base Active, the mid Allure and GT Line and the range-topping GT trim. It also features latest technologies including the ‘i-Cockpit’ system.  The automaker has replaced conventional gauges with a 12.3-inch TFT screen which displays information on speed, fuel level, remaining range and satellite navigation information. There is another 8.0-inch screen on the dash for the infotainment system which has controls for climate and even for the digital radio. This has helped create a very clean and uncluttered dashboard.

The rear design expresses strength and security. It features flattering curves and the gloss black strip along the bottom of the rear window that sets the latest breed of Peugeot SUVs apart. The Peugeot logo and brand name are on the centre of the strip, which connects the signature LED ‘claw effect’ rear lights, a marks that clearly identify it as a Peugeot vehicle by day and by night. The rear profile – including an extra-wide tailgate and low boot sill – that also hints at just how spacious (and practical) the boot is.

While the all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV has been extended (by 19 cm, including a longer 16.5-cm wheelbase), its height remains the same (1.64 m with roof bars – standard on all models), which gives it a long and dynamic profile. Its striking form is accentuated by a raised body plane; the top trim beautifully frames the glazed surfaces, including the rear corner window; and an elongated roof that suggests fluidity and agility – clean, crisp, and contoured. GT Line and GT versions feature a contrasting Black Diamond glossy black roof projects still greater prestige, elegance, and modernity. At the limits of the next vehicle size segment and the world of premium car manufacturers, the all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV emanates an authentic aura of luxury.

The protective elements that enhance it include alloy wheels ranging from 17″ up to 19″ on the GT, and profiled standard-fit aluminium longitudinal roof bars which all add a subtle blend of character and sophistication to the vehicle contours. Everything comes together to make the design extremely modern, even futuristic, without falling into the traps of being too fussy, or ostentatious in style. The stretched profile also highlights the volume of the passenger compartment. From the outside, the doors, wheelbase, and large panoramic opening glass sunroof – standard on GT versions, which bathes the interior in light, and gives occupants a pleasant feeling of just how spacious and accommodating the vehicle is on the inside.

Technologies available include MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice activation. The SUV also comes with advanced driving aids such as Grip Control system (an advanced form of traction control) with five settings (normal, mud, snow, sand and ESP off). Other technologies are hill-descent control, distance alert, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, driver attention warning and headlights beam control system to ensure maximum illumination. In addition, the SUV features adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and “Visionpark”, a system that uses parking sensors and cameras to create a 360-degree view of the car to ease parking in tight spaces.

The 2017 Peugeot 5008 SUV has adopted a whole new face far from what we were accustomed to. Everything about the model has changed except its name.  The model, however shares its exterior cues with the new 3008. They also share the same platform, the Efficient Modular Platform (EMP2) but the 5008 has a longer wheelbase which helps improve its cabin space.

2017 Peugeot 5008 Engine

Under the hood, the 2017 5008 SUV features an array of power-plants, both gasoline and diesel engines. The engines which have been borrowed from the PSA group will feature a stop/start function to help save on fuel.  The engines include a 1.2 L, Pure Tech gasoline engine which produces 130 bhp. The engine is paired either to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The second gasoline engine is the 1.6 L PureTech mill good for 165 bph. This engine is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission system only.

However, if you want the most well-rounded 5008 you have to consider the 1.6-litre diesel because it really is all you need. It makes 118hp which is less than the entry-level petrol but the added torque boost makes up for that and in reality, it feels a bit faster when picking up speed on the motorway.

Those after a bit more diesel power can go for either the 148 or the 178hp version of the 2.0-litre diesel. It’s the oldest engine in the line-up so it’s occasionally grumbly but the pulling power makes up for that. The 178hp version is auto-only and, unless you plan on towing heavy trailers, overkill – pushing the price of the 5008 into BMW X3 (very dangerous) territory.

Its cabin accommodates 7 passengers across three rows of seats. What’s more, the second row features three separate seats which mean one can fit in three separate child seats. The seats can also fold separately. Third row seats fold flat into the trunk to expand cargo space when needed. The SUV offers 702 liters of cargo space when the seats are in place. The space expands to 780 liters upon folding the third row and to a whopping 1,940 liters upon folding both the second- and third-row seats.
