When Nissan brought the original Titan to market for the 2004 model year, it was intended as a coup against the full-size-pickup status quo. But it failed to pull many buyers away from the dominant American brands. Years of neglect, with only minor updates over the course of its 12-year run, did this pickup no favors. Now, an all-new Titan sets out not to pick up where its predecessor left off, but to finally truly challenge the domestic brands.

The 2017 Nissan Titan is the automaker’s full-size pickup. A long-overdue successor to a truck that made its debut in 2004, the new Titan is built in Canton, Mississippi, and is offered as either the light-duty Titan or as the near-heavy-duty Titan XD.

Nissan has followed up the release of the Titan and Titan XD Crew Cab trucks with Titan and Titan XD Single Cab models.  Already the Titan XD is available in dealerships. The 2017 Nissan Titan Single Cab truck on the other hand will arrive in the fall of this year as a 2017 model vehicle. Both the Titan and Titan XD Single Cab trucks are offered in regular cab and long bed body styles.

2017 Nissan Titan Specs

Everyone very much hope at the 2017 Nissan Titan release is better than the previous version. So we’ll review the interior, exterior and some other features of the new car in 2017 Nissan Titan. Hopefully review the specifications of this car, can help you in choosing your dream car.

The 2017 Nissan Titan’s cabin is spacious, although it doesn’t feel cavernous the way the F-150 crew cab does. Still, there’s plenty of room for five, and the rear passenger area features nifty storage options. Optional on the SV and standard on above trims is a cab-width lockable bin with removable dividers located under the rear seats. Flip the seats up, and you’ll find the unfolded cargo platform features bungee tie-downs for keeping your stuff secure.

The interior of the Titan Single Cabs is adopted from the Titan Crew Cabs.  However, the Single Cab models miss out on leather upholstery, driving aids and upgraded electronics in the Crew Cabs.  The trucks will accommodate 3 passengers. Each person will have his or her own 3-point seatbelt on the 40/20/40 split bench.

The 2017 Nissan Titan full-size pickup is available across the board as a crew cab with a short (5-foot-7-inch) cargo bed, while the work-truck versions can be bought as a single-cab with a long (8-foot 2.5-inch)bed. An extended cab with a standard (6-foot-6.7-inch) bed is expected next year. The crew cab can seat five or six, depending on trim or equipment. The Titan is available in five trims: S, SV, SL, Platinum Reserve and the off-road-oriented Pro-4X. All are available with two- or four-wheel drive except the Pro-4X, which is 4×4 only.

The Titan S work truck is available with either cab and comes standard with 18-inch steel wheels, an active grille shutter, cab-mounted LED bed lights, a lockable damped tailgate, remote locking and unlocking, manual exterior mirrors, push-button ignition, air-conditioning, cloth upholstery, a vinyl floor, power windows and locks, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a 40/20/40-split folding front bench seat, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, a 5-inch color display, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, NissanConnect mobile apps and a six-speaker audio system with a CD player, an auxiliary input and a USB port.

The interior is offered in darker smoke grey or light tan colors. The darker grey will be more appealing to buyers due to the nature of work these trucks are involved in. The S trim features vinyl flooring while the SV features color-keyed carpet.

Next is the SL, which takes the Pro-4X’s upgrades (minus the all-terrain tires and mechanical upgrades such as the Bilstein shocks) and adds 20-inch wheels, power-folding mirrors with puddle lamps, running boards, a power-sliding rear window, LED cargo box lighting, a Utili-Track bed rail system with four movable tie-down cleats, remote engine start, front and rear parking sensors, a power-adjustable steering wheel, driver memory functions, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a four-way power passenger seat, heated front seats, leather upholstery, a Rockford Fosgate 12-speaker audio system, a 120-volt outlet located inside the bed and the NissanConnect Services emergency telematics features suite.

2017 Nissan Titan Specs

The Titan and Titan XD share cabs, rear fenders, and headlights, but the hoods and front fenders are different. The hood sits higher on the XD, and while the grilles look similar, they are, in fact, different. They are large, bold, chrome (on most models) affairs backed by active grille shutters that help reduce aerodynamic drag by 10 percent versus the old Titan, which was last offered for the 2014 model year. Up front, all Titans feature LED puddle lights and taillights, and are offered with LED headlights. Both also have a two-tone look with a different color for the bumpers, lower side panels, and fender flares.

The base S trim features a black painted grille and rides on 17-inch steel wheels. The wheels are wrapped in LT-rated tires. The truck also features black mirror caps and black door handles. The SV trim on the other hand features an extensive use of chrome trim on the bumpers, grille and on door handles. The SV trim rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. There is an option for a 2-tone paint scheme.

The Titan and Titan XD Single Cab trucks feature full-size cargo beds i.e. 8-ft long cargo beds. Absence of the Pro-4X and Platinum trims means the Titan Single Cabs miss a host of premium exterior cues.

2017 Nissan Titan Engine

According to Nissan, a 3.0 L, V6 engine will be offered later. This is the same engine will power the Titan Crew Cab; however, Nissan has not released specs of this engine. The Titan XD Single Cab on the other hand is powered by the same V8 engine as the standard Titan Single Cab. The XD adds a Cummins 5.0 L, V-8 turbo-diesel mill which pumps out 310 hp and a whopping 555 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission system.

The engine bay is where you’ll find the next point of differentiation. For now, the only engine available on the Titan is a 5.6-liter V8 that produces a robust 390 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque. A V6 will debut next year, but you must look to the Titan XD if you want the Cummins diesel V8. Several thoughtful touches, such as a trailer brake-light check program accessible through the key fob, cargo rails on the bed floor and long bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage also contribute to the Titan’s appeal.

Two powertrains are currently offered and a third is coming. A 5.6-liter Endurance V-8 is standard and is the only engine for the light duty model. It is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. A V-6 is coming. The Titan XD can also be ordered with a 5.0-liter Cummins turbodiesel V-8 that makes 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a heavy duty Aisin 6-speed automatic.

To bolster the Titan’s chances in what is arguably the auto industry’s most competitive and most profitable segment, Nissan has endowed it with far more configurations and powertrain options, including an updated 5.6-liter V-8 engine built in Tennessee. Final assembly happens at Nissan’s plant in Canton, Mississippi, alongside its heavier-duty counterpart, the Titan XD.
